In the role of National Manager Member Solutions, Maria Ganakas leads a team of superannuation specialists with a focus on helping Prime Super members and employers navigate the world of superannuation and retirement.
Maria draws on more than 30 years’ experience in the superannuation and financial services sector, having held numerous senior positions throughout her career.
As a superannuation and retirement subject-matter expert, Maria is focused on simplifying the complexities of superannuation. “Our core purpose is to help members understand their super, how to set themselves up for retirement, and really get the best possible outcomes after a lifetime of work. We want to help our members achieve their lifestyle goals and cashflow needs using their super in retirement”, Maria continues.
“We provide valuable online tools and calculators for our members, and importantly, we recognise that sometimes members just want to talk to a person. We deliberately make it very easy for members to do that by removing unnecessary barriers and providing a personal, human experience,” she says.
“Some time ago we introduced our Book a chat service that members can use to lock-in a convenient date and time for a quick telephone chat with one of our superannuation experts. This has been very popular and is offered at no additional cost to members,” Maria continues.
As a strong advocate for gender equality and retirement savings, Maria recognises that superannuation is one of the most powerful tools available to bridge the gender savings gap. She actively champions initiatives that aim to educate women about superannuation opportunities and how to improve their outlook for retirement.
“Knowledge is power and if you are better informed, you can make better decisions to secure your financial wellbeing in retirement”, she says.
Maria also drives the Retirement income strategy for Prime Super with a focus on supporting members to achieve better outcomes and retire confidently, using their super to meet their income needs.
